I can see a trend in some of the blogs about Ryan homes that people would ask and get told "no" and seemed to be bitter about it or would state, "someone else got it, why can't I?". As long as you are respectful and reasonable with your requests, then you should be able to get the things you want, as long as they are offered in your division.
You don't go to Burger King and ask for a Big Mac, so take the time to research Ryan Homes or any builder, before you choose to build with them. Find out what options they offer and what they can not offer. Not only will this make your home building process more fun and exciting, but it helps the next person out behind you by creating a positive experience with the builder, who might be more flexible in the future if customers acted appropriately.
I agree, this is why we went with another company. We wanted the Big Mac and knew it couldn't be provided. Ryan Homes is a great company though, just not as custom as some of us would want.
ReplyDeleteIt was a little hard for me at first to get used to. The last home I built we had a few options. Granite color, cabinet color and appliances stainless steel or not and hardwoods or not. That was it.
DeleteRyan homes had more options upfront to choose from and everything was available that matched the rustic/modern country look we wanted.
It was hard not expecting more customization for the price (320k+), when compared to the same house being built cheaper in other states, but that's to be expected living in D.C. area.
Thanks for stopping by our blog. Hope it was helpful.
AMEN, my friend! This does get frustrating.
ReplyDeleteI think what makes it difficult is that Ryan Homes isn't very transparent about a) what's available, or b) how much it costs. Obviously, the blogs make it easier to figure out what upgrades are available, but pricing is much harder to sort out, especially since it varies by community. Having said that, we've been pretty pleased with our experience so far, but I think it's fair to say there's room for improvement. Just my $0.02.
